Compensation
The annual salary for this position is approximately $59,400, based on an hourly rate of $55 and a 40-hour workweek. Independent contractors are eligible for a higher compensation package.
Job Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing tailored instructional strategies to cater to the unique needs of students with disabilities. This involves:
- Differentiated Instructional Planning: Develop and implement effective lesson plans that address the diverse learning requirements of students.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with educators, support staff, and parents to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote student growth and development.
- Inclusive Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages academic and social-emotional growth among students.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Utilize assessment data to track student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Record-Keeping and Communication: Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior, while communicating effectively with parents and guardians about their child's progress.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A valid State of Washington teaching license.
- A special education teaching endorsement.
- A strong understanding of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff.
