Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse Specialist

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises in our Emergency Department.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans to address the unique needs of each patient.
- Collaborate with Emergency Department staff, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
- Provide crisis intervention, counseling, and education to patients and their families to promote recovery and well-being.
- Document patient assessments, care plans, and outcomes in accordance with Fraser Health's policies and procedures.
- Liaise with community resources and service providers to ensure timely and effective transitions of care.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year recent related experience in an acute or community Mental Health & Substance Use setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of mental health and substance use treatment, as well as psychopharmacology and crisis intervention techniques.
