Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Global Wealth Management (GWM) Chief Data Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective execution of the Bank's Data Strategy and providing support to business line domains, technology partners, and Enterprise Data Governance team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance and management principles, as well as experience in project management, stakeholder and change management, and leadership skills to motivate and align individuals and teams with diverse skill sets and experience.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  1. 1. Championing a data-driven culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
    2. Providing CDO support to business line domains, technology partners, and Enterprise Data Governance team in Data Management & Data Governance implementation including Enterprise Data Management tool onboarding and training.
    3. Being responsible for project and portfolio level reporting for all initiatives/projects; includes tracking, status reporting, executive dashboards etc.
    4. Establishing and maintaining stakeholder and executive management relationships to effectively influence strategic priorities.
    5. Acting as the point person to ensure the assigned initiatives are accomplished from an end-to-end perspective, including initiative intake, project onboarding, and delivery.
    6. Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and within the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture.
    7. May periodically lead strategic projects or initiatives.
    8. Championing a high-performance environment and contributing to an inclusive work environment.
    9. Building talent within CIDA.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:
  1. 1. Strong knowledge of data management/data governance processes and best practices.
    2. Proven delivery experience, Agile experience an asset.
    3. Knowledge of Scotiabank's operations in order to understand and lead the implementation of strategic initiatives across a number of disciplines preferred.
    4. Demonstrated ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities.
    5. Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization.
    6. Exceptional leadership skills to motivate and align individuals and team with diverse skill sets and experience.
    7. Strong relationship management with an ability to establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments, and partners across the organization.
    8. Ability to manage in an environment of significant transformation and change while maintaining a high level of engagement and focus.
    9. Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate to various levels within the organization.
    10. Solutions-oriented and able to develop and create innovative solutions to critical business or organizational data issues.
    11. Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Collibra.
