About the OpportunityAecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects that are Faster. Smarter. Safer. We're seeking a Journeyperson, Powerline Technician to join our team and help us become Canada's #1 utility construction provider.
Key Responsibilities- Perform line maintenance in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing de-energized, live line hot stick, live line rubber glove, or live line barehand techniques on voltages up to and including 44KV.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including Radial Arm Diggers, Line Trucks, Tension Stringing machines, and all-terrain equipment as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints or process specifications, and instruct and train junior personnel in duties, safe work practices, care, and use of tools and equipment.
- Maintain personal and group safety at all times, and exercise appropriate caution when working with tension for rigging, on or close to energized equipment.
- Respond to unscheduled outages as the result of weather, component failures, vehicular accidents, etc.
- Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in crew tasks.
- Journeyperson Power Line Apprenticeship and Trade Certificate.
- Minimum 2-3 years utility experience constructing, installing, and maintaining overhead, underground, and distribution systems.
- Thorough knowledge of Provincial Electrical Utilities Regulations, EUSR, and provincial specific Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Codes.
- Knowledge of the UWPC.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively work on teams with a desire to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to interpret drawings, develop/interpret work instructions, and plan projects for self and others.
- Valid Driver's License and DZ, AZ is preferred.
- Ability to climb towers and poles, work at heights, and work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal, team participation, and communication skills.
