Computer Systems Specialist

This position is located in the central office of the Beaufort-Delta Education Council (BDEC) in Inuvik and reports to the LAN Administrator/Technical.
Key Responsibilities- Service and maintain computer operation and equipment for all BDEC schools in addition to the central office in Inuvik.
- Work with teachers, principals, school secretaries, and central office staff to ensure effective use of technology.
- Assist in the acquisition of new hardware and software, and ensure proper documentation and submission of related financial reports.
- Interact with Beaufort-Delta Education Council staff, other government departments, and non-government agencies to assist with the functionality and operation of PC-based hardware and software applications.
- Have a working knowledge of the council's telecommunications resources, which is an integral part of the communication system.
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in a Computer or Information Systems related field is the minimum educational requirement.
- Proven application experience and systems analyst skills.
- At least two years of experience, with equivalencies considered.
- Experience supporting wireless network access and associated protocols is an asset.
- Experience working in schools/school boards is an asset.
The incumbent will work independently with minimal supervision and must have the ability to support users of all levels of ability from novice to expert.
The incumbent must have a valid driver's license and have the ability to drive and travel by car and on small airplanes.
