Job Summary:

As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the underwriting process, including selecting and classifying risk according to company philosophy and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the underwriting process, including reviewing applications and submissions, making underwriting decisions, and monitoring results for trending patterns and issues.
  • Select and classify risk according to company philosophy and standards, ensuring that all decisions are consistent and fair, considering client needs while following our underwriting philosophy.
  • Develop initiatives for revision and update of underwriting policies and practices, working closely with stakeholders to review, improve, and enhance automated underwriting and straight-through processing capabilities.
  • Provide technical underwriting support to various departments, including Customer Service, Claims, Special Investigations Unit, Risk, Governance & Control, Quality, and Learning & Development.
  • Make customer contact in accordance with procedural mandates and underwriting needs, handling customer escalations and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to create benefits for the customer by reviewing and implementing improvements to efficiency and operations.
  • Work closely with product teams to support various initiatives, including product roll-out and onboarding, evaluating and making decisions/recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 15 years underwriting experience, AALU, FALU preferred.
  • LOMA Customer Service preferred.
