Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to join our Rail and Transit division as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HVAC, snow-melting, smoke management, plumbing, and fire protection systems and controls design for large-scale transit projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and Development: Coordinate and lead the design of HVAC systems, snow-melt, plumbing and drainage systems, ventilation, fire protection and controls using AutoCAD, REVIT, NavisWorks, HAP, Train Trace, and Energy Plus.
  2. Leadership and Management: Responsible to lead internal Designers and Engineers with a primary focus to manage the mechanical design and resolve technical challenges to reach a design solution that meets all requirements including specifications, codes and standards and adheres to Parsons Oman QAQC processes.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and present to internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Mentorship and Development: Mentor and develop junior-intermediate mechanical design and engineering staff. Provide functional guidance and support to enhance technical and non-technical skills.
  5. Quality Assurance: Review shop drawings and technical documentation for compliance.
  6. Proposal Development: Contribute to proposal preparation, develop and verify technical scopes, and assist with budget and schedule planning and management.
  7. Project Delivery: Be a leader within the Project Team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  2. 15+ years' mechanical engineering and design experience for the design of mechanical systems for both new and retrofit transit stations and facilities.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the design of HVAC systems, snow-melt, plumbing and drainage systems, ventilation, fire protection and controls;
  4. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, and standards;
  5. Detailed understanding of local authorities codes and design standards;
  6. Proficiency in relevant software to mechanical design, such as AutoCAD, NavisWorks for BIM interface, REVIT, HAP, Train Trace and Energy Plus;
  7. Experience on CM progressive design-build, design-build, and P3 contract delivery is an asset;
  8. Demonstrated experience on large scale interdisciplinary projects with mechanical design leadership responsibilities and interface with a multi-disciplinary team;
  9. Must have an advanced understanding of quality standards relative to mechanical design and planning, engineering.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English;
