Lithium Process Development Specialist

At Imerys British Lithium, we are seeking an experienced Process Development Scientist to join our team in Stenalees, Cornwall. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of Europe's first integrated Lithium production facility.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory bench-scale metallurgical and process chemistry test work at our in-house facilities or external laboratories. They will also ensure the safe operation of laboratory equipment, contribute to sustaining capital and improvement capital requests, log and record trial and analytical data, and technical reporting of the outcomes of bench-scale trials.
In addition, they may be required to deputise for the Person in Charge (PIC) of the Metallurgical Laboratory facility and equipment, or a sub-area thereof. The role involves coordinating samples for analytical assays, ensuring the safe storage, use and disposal of chemicals in the laboratory, and contributing to reviewing, developing and maintaining QA/QC policies for the collection, testing and analysis of samples.
Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory bench-scale metallurgical and process chemistry test work
- Ensure safe operation of laboratory equipment
- Contribute to sustaining capital and improvement capital requests
- Log and record trial and analytical data
- Technical reporting of bench-scale trials
- Deputise for the PIC of the Metallurgical Laboratory facility and equipment
- Coordinate samples for analytical assays
- Ensure safe storage, use and disposal of chemicals in the laboratory
To be considered for this role, you will need a degree level qualification in Chemistry or an earth science, experience of working in a process laboratory environment, knowledge of inorganic chemical processes and lithium chemistries, and knowledge of health & safety standards and COSHH regulations. A vocational health and safety qualification is desirable.
