The Mental Health department at Michael Garron Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist.


Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients on our acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit and in the MHEAZ (Mental Health Emergency Assessment Zone) of the Emergency Department.


Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of patients and families, group therapies, discharge planning and coordination
  • Providing high-quality patient care that meets the highest standards of professionalism, respect, and compassion
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans
  • Staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments to provide evidence-based care


Requirements:

  • Current certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BScN preferred, CPMHN(C) is an asset
  • A minimum of 1 year Mental Health Nursing experience: either Inpatient, Outpatient, Community-Based, or a combination required
  • Demonstrated excellence in both psychiatric and medical nursing diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and evaluation processes
