Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Cybersecurity Director to lead our Information Security function and strengthen security across the Government of Saskatchewan.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide Strategic Security Guidance: Offer high-level security guidance and leadership to the executive team and ministry executives.
  2. Develop and Implement Security Roadmap: Provide information security governance through the systematic implementation of an Information Security Roadmap.
  3. Monitor and Report Security Initiatives: Provide regular and consistent reporting on the current status of the information security initiatives to senior leaders.
  4. Assess and Evaluate Security Risks: Provide leadership, direction, and guidance in assessing and evaluating information security risks and monitoring compliance with security standards and appropriate policies.
  5. Consult on Cloud-Based Cybersecurity: Understand the landscape of cloud-based cybersecurity and other security areas, consult on the gaps in the process, and recommend best practices for effective mitigation.
  6. Lead and Manage a Team: Determine work methods and direct the work of associates. Hire, lead, manage, and coach a team to improve their skills and support them in achieving their career goals.
  7. Recognize and Reward Team Members: Recognize and reward initiative, innovation, and outstanding performance within the team, creating a positive work environment that encourages excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  8. Direct Incident Response Efforts: As an Incident Commander, direct the Government of Saskatchewan's incident response efforts, ensuring a swift and effective response to security incidents.
  9. Chair the Security Steering Committee: Chair the Security Steering Committee and provide regular reporting to senior leaders.
  10. Develop and Enhance Security Capabilities: Assist the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in developing and enhancing security capabilities for the division.
Requirements
  1. 10+ Years of Cybersecurity Experience: Generally, 10+ years of cybersecurity experience demonstrated progressive experience across a wide range of security disciplines.
  2. 3+ Years in a Management Role: 3+ years in a management role, preferably in cybersecurity.
  3. Education and Certification: Must possess a Degree in Computer Science and at least one recognized security certification, such as CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, or CRISC, to ensure a high level of expertise and credibility in managing the organization's security initiatives.
  4. Experience with Industry and Regulatory Standards: Experience managing solutions in various environments such as end-user, server/network, and public cloud. Understanding and experience with industry and regulatory standards such as PCI, Privacy Regulations, SOC2, ISO27001, and ITIL.
  5. Natural Problem Solver: Natural problem solver who is analytical and structured in their thinking.
  6. Experience with Process Improvements and Project Management: Experience rolling out process improvements and project management will be an asset.
Preferred Skills
  1. Experience Managing Relationships: Experience managing relationships across the government and within the team is an asset.
