Job Summary

The Registered Nurse at Brightshores is responsible for assessing perioperative patient needs and providing safe and adequate care. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and prioritize patient needs in the operating room
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet patient needs
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Provide education and support to patients and families
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care

Requirements

  • Ontario registration or eligibility
  • Successful completion of the Operating Room certificate and/or at least two years OR experience in the last three years
  • Ability to scrub and circulate in all services
  • Knowledge of the current ORNAC standards
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to flex time to meet unit's needs
  • Proven verbal and written, including electronic, communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to urgent/emergency situations
  • Must be willing to take call and be available to reach the hospital within 20 minutes
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
  • Adherence to Brightshores 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others)
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Perioperative Nursing Certification
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing
