Railway Operations Specialist

At CP, we are currently seeking a highly skilled Railway Operations Specialist to join our team. This exciting role offers an estimated annual salary of $90,000 - $120,000 CAD, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionA key responsibility of this position will be to ensure the safe and efficient movement of trains, goods, and hazardous materials. As a Railway Operations Specialist, you will work in train or yard service, adhering to operating rules and safety procedures.
- You will carry out specific instructions detailing a train's route and movements, as well as coordinate the switching of cars.
- You will observe, interpret, and relay signals and other indications affecting the movement of trains.
- You will signal crew members for movement of the engine or train using specific signals or radio communication.
This role also requires a thorough understanding of General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), General Orders, and Bulletins related to the safe movement of trains, goods, and hazardous materials.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo succeed in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- To be at least 18 years old.
- To possess a valid driver's license.
- To have a valid Canadian passport, allowing entry/re-entry to the United States.
You must also be available for call 24 hours a day and respond to designated work sites within two hours of receiving a call.
This role involves working irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays, and may require traveling away from home for up to 12 hours at a time.
