About the Position:

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team at BBA Consultants. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical apparatus maintenance, protection relay, and control systems testing. They will be responsible for carrying out commissioning, maintenance, and corrective actions on utility substation or generation station protection and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cary out commissioning, maintenance, and corrective actions on utility substation or generation station protection and control systems
  • Monitor worksite projects being carried out at our clients' facilities
  • Serve in various roles, including project, proposal, and site work leader
  • Assist in implementing new apparatus, protection, and SCADA systems for substation projects
  • Work in outdoor environments in remote locations
  • Apply established work methods and ensure their improvement
  • Provide protection system support for clients remotely or onsite
  • Develop commission protection and control systems on site and within the BBA digital power systems laboratories nationally

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma (technologist) in one of the following areas: electrical engineering, telecommunications, or any other relevant training
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in electrical apparatus maintenance, protection relay, and control systems testing
  • Demonstrated working in operational and brownfield experience with industrial and utility systems
  • Must be comfortable working in severe weather conditions (hot and cold), driving on winter roads, in remote locations, and on forest service roads
  • Must be comfortable working in remote locations with limited means of communication
  • Must be able to consistently lift 50lbs
  • Available to travel to our BBA offices across Canada
  • Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client sites in Canada
