Job Summary


The Communications Leader, People will play a key role in developing, coordinating, and delivering strategic communication campaigns and projects on behalf of the VCH People team. This position provides leadership and consultation in all aspects of communications to advance organizational strategic priorities and strengthen the department's and organization's reputation with both internal and external partners.



Key Responsibilities



  • Provide strategic communications consultation, planning, and evaluation for senior leaders to proactively achieve strategic priorities, manage reputation risks, support change and transition initiatives, and positively impact the employee experience.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute effective communications, change management, and engagement strategies and techniques designed to meet the needs of target audiences.
  • Liaise with partners and experts at all levels of the organization to develop a broad understanding of important issues, challenges, and strategic directions being undertaken, provide advice, and develop related communications.
  • Apply solid knowledge of best practice business methods to help advance corporate culture, executive communications, executive engagement with frontline staff, corporate business practices, and online and in-person communications.
  • Use advanced skills and experience in journalistic and business writing, as well as the skill to develop compelling written and multimedia presentations to target and engage various external and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or Journalism supplemented with industry-recognized accreditation.
  • A minimum of seven to ten years' recent related experience, including development, implementation, and evaluation of operational and strategic communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Broad knowledge of human resources practices and project and change management experience.
  • The ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, balance multiple activities concurrently, and optimize departmental effectiveness and contribute to organizational success.
  • Strong journalistic business writing and editing skills to compose effective communications for a variety of target audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills to gather and present information and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Advanced computer skills in a variety of software applications and web-based technologies, including content management, to develop attractive communications materials.
