Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I to join our team at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic MRI images, preparing and positioning patients for examination, and maintaining MRI equipment.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical knowledge and skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The incumbent will work closely with radiologists, patients, students, leadership, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist;
  • Prepare and position patients for examination;
  • Review patient history and explain procedures;
  • Respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure;
  • Maintain MRI equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy;
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT);
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a hospital setting, proficiency in Connect Care and IMPAX, and participation in AHS Diagnostic Imaging Quality program/Peervue.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this role is $85,000, based on a 37.5-hour workweek. Alberta Health Services offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
