Heavy Equipment Service Technician

At Vancouver Airport Authority, we are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Service Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our mobile and portable equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles and equipment, including fire trucks, air stairs, and emergency response light vehicles.
  • Perform general diagnostics, mechanical overhaul, and maintenance work on a wide variety of specialized and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work area and facility, leading activities and sharing knowledge with assigned apprentices.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the highest level of service and quality in all aspects of fleet maintenance.
Requirements:
  • Three years' recent, related experience, supplemented by the completion of a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently, with little supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make safety a top priority.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
