Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Design to lead our capital facility development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing major hospital development and redevelopment projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct project planning, design, construction, and implementation of capital facility development projects.
  • Develop and implement capital and operating budgets, including authorization, control, and reporting of expenditures.
  • Provide strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight of designated projects throughout all phases.
  • Manage and oversee the management of department human resources, including recruitment, professional development, performance assessment, and discipline of employees or contractors.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to provide advice and problem resolution on design and construction issues, human resource requirements, and other departmental matters.
  • Ensure facilities are planned, designed, and constructed to meet clinical outcomes and align with the latest standards and best practices in health facility design, project delivery, and environmental sustainability.
Requirements
  • Master's degree and professional designation in a relevant discipline, supplemented by ten years' recent related experience in progressively more complex and senior management leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of facilities project delivery processes, including planning, design, construction, and procurement within current standards, codes, bylaws, and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively manage major facilities projects from concept to completion, with a strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to negotiate and facilitate consensus with various levels of government and community groups, with a strong understanding of capital project budget control and related financial management.
