About the Role:
The DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is seeking a skilled and compassionate Cultural Health Navigator, Swahili to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to government-assisted refugee populations, empowering them to navigate the Canadian healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Navigation: Work closely with refugee clients to identify their immediate health needs and provide personalized navigation support, including online and telehealth care, in a culturally safe and sensitive manner.
- Health Promotion: Support overall health promotion by providing information on health and health behaviors, as well as resources available to clients.
- Service Bridging: Deliver clear and timely pathways for healthcare access, removing barriers and ensuring clients gain the knowledge and skills required to navigate the system.
- Peer Support: Offer one-on-one peer support healthcare orientations and identify referrals to other peer-focused programs and services.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Health Sciences or related field, with two years of related experience.
- Language: Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Swahili.
- Experience: Minimum two to three years of experience in settlement case management, with a demonstrated understanding of social determinants of health and their impact on racialized refugee populations.
