Strategic Leader, Small Business Virtual Advice

About the Role:

As a key leader within Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Small Business Virtual Advice Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Provide leadership oversight and coaching to Managers, Virtual Advice, ensuring that they develop a team of high-performing subject matter experts that focus on advice-based client-centric conversations.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of strategies that align with the goals and objectives of Small Business Distribution and the regions supported by the Small Business Virtual Advice Team.
  • Create awareness of the virtual channel by working in close collaboration with key partners (i.e., Branch, Small Business Development Managers, Wealth Management, Commercial, CMCC). Assist partners in identifying opportunities by designing and delivering tailored solutions that clearly state the benefits to the customer and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment where the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Requirements:

  • University degree in business, finance, or economics, or equivalent work experience. The incumbent must possess strong interpersonal skills, communications, judgment, negotiation, coordination, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate change leadership, cross-cultural leadership, and a strong focus on the customer and results.
  • Must clearly demonstrate both creative and strategic thinking by continuously and independently identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve the environment.
  • Effective sales management skills are essential, along with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Other training requirements reasonably required by the Bank from time to time.
