As a Health Care Aide at The Good Samaritan Society, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to our residents.

About the Role

The Health Care Aide collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to provide person-centered care that acknowledges resident choice, dignity, and independence. This includes:

  • Recognizing residents as unique individuals with diverse cultural, spiritual, and psychosocial needs
  • Advocating for residents and observing changes in their condition, reporting concerns to the team
  • Engaging in activities of daily living and providing assistance with bathing, dressing, meal service, grooming, and portering while respecting resident choice
  • Providing quality service according to the care plan and GSS/GSC Standards of Care, including development and updating of care guides/plans
  • Promoting teamwork by sharing knowledge and experience to enhance resident care

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognized Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • First Aid certification
  • Registration with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry
  • Food Safe 1 certification (post July 29, 2013)
  • Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously and positively with residents, family members, visitors, and team members
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to changing routines to accommodate resident needs
