UNICEF Canada is a leading charity organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in Canada and around the world.

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Director, Policy & Research (Domestic) to join our team in Ottawa, Canada.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position that offers a competitive salary range of $120,000-$150,000 per year, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering advocacy strategies to influence legislation, policies, investments, and knowledge of children's universal human rights across all orders of government and across the child & youth serving sector in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain effective advocacy strategies for policy change priorities.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of UNICEF's policies and programs, including national and international contexts related to children's rights.
  • Apply expert policy analysis to advocacy priorities and interventions to secure children's rights.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven to nine years of relevant work experience in parliamentary affairs, government relations, policy development, and/or advocacy.
  • Exceptional skills in building productive working relationships with colleagues and other partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with superb attention to detail and quality while meeting deadlines and multitasking in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
