Job Title: Field Service Generator Technician

Join our team of skilled professionals at Toromont Cat Power Systems, where you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of power generation systems, including gensets, industrial engines, and marine engines.

About the Role:

As a Field Service Generator Technician, you will be responsible for safely and effectively diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar Power Systems on customer sites. You will work in a fast-paced environment, using your technical skills and knowledge to resolve complex issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gensets, industrial engines, marine engines, controls, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and mechanical repairs on engines and generators in both the shop and on customer sites.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for all equipment and provide detailed service reports and recommendations on repairs and upgrades.
  • Use electrical and mechanical testing and calibrating equipment to diagnose and service equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Submit accurate service reports, time cards, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Operate and connect load banks in a test environment.
  • Perform engine overhauls.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a field related to diesel engines, electro-mechanics, marine engine mechanics, industrial mechanics, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the servicing and repair of generators/gensets, heavy engines, diesel engines, or equivalent heavy equipment.
  • Valid driver's license.
