Assistant Professor in Gender, Power, and Religions in the Americas
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Gender, Power, and Religions in the Americas. The successful candidate will have a strong research focus on gender, power, and religions in the Americas, with a particular emphasis on one or more of the following areas: gender, race, and religion; religion and colonialism; decolonial, anticolonial, and/or Indigenous religions and spiritualities.
Responsibilities:- Teach introductory and senior/graduate level courses in the Study of Religion and Gender Studies, including courses in method and theory.
- Supervise honours and MA students in their research.
- Contribute to the development of course offerings in the Departments of Religious Studies and Gender Studies.
The successful candidate must have a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field and demonstrate competence in method and theory in the study of religious and/or spiritual traditions. ABD candidates will be considered with reasonable assurance of completion before the commencement of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in teaching and research in the areas of gender, power, and religions in the Americas. Strong research and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: gender, race, and religion; religion and colonialism; decolonial, anticolonial, and/or Indigenous religions and spiritualities.
