Journeyman Millwright Job Description

Champion Petfoods is seeking an experienced Journeyman Millwright to join our team. This role involves troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, ensuring prompt repair and return to service while maintaining high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair production-related equipment in our pet food production facility in Acheson, AB.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Perform basic level welding, brazing, flame cutting, and electric arc welding.
  • Ensure equipment modifications are properly conducted to minimize risk of cross-contamination and ensure product quality and safety.
  • Ensure compliance to Company's policies, practices, and procedures related to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and the Environment.
Requirements:
  • Journeyman Millwright certification, plus three to five years' related work experience.
  • Ability to diagnose high sequenced machinery and determine the root causes of problems in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Good organizational abilities, including planning and execution skills, with attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment while contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Working Conditions:
  • Work environment is in a pet food distribution centre, with exposure to dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Overtime and Saturdays as required.
  • Must be able to physically inspect company equipment, property, and assets.
  • Regularly required to work at heights; fall arrest training to be provided by the Company.
