Senior Underwriter Job Summary

As a Senior Underwriter at Rocket Mortgage Canada, you will play a critical role in analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risk, and making loan eligibility decisions. Your expertise will ensure that all documentation is compliant with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and underwrite customer loans within prescribed authority level, escalating unusual or complex cases to leadership where appropriate
  • Review due diligence documents submitted to validate the borrower's willingness and ability to repay the loan
  • Analyze loan risk and request additional information as necessary
  • Make loan eligibility decisions and approve or reject applications
  • Review and specify loan conditions as necessary
  • Ensure deals are underwritten and adhere to internal policy, procedures, guidelines, insurer programs, and regulatory requirements
  • Document and efficiently communicate reasons for the approval/rejection of loans
  • Review appraisal and/or site inspection reports
  • Manage the relationship with submitting agent/broker source
  • Set the pricing and manage the profitability of each transaction
  • Identify and assess AML and fraud risks
  • Manage pipeline and ensure daily production goals are met
  • Mentor team members and share best practices
  • Handle complex deals and support team with escalated issues
