Geriatric Care Specialist

As a Registered Nurse with Sienna Senior Living, you will be part of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional care and services to our residents.
About the RoleThe Registered Nurse is a vital position in our communities, playing a critical role in the lives of our residents. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Providing nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and the resident plan of care.
- Utilizing sound nursing practice principles to ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care in assigned home areas.
- Ensuring timely and accessible admissions for residents, including comprehensive orientation to the home and services offered.
- Coordinating resident transfers and discharges in a safe and timely manner.
You will also be responsible for:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs of residents.
- Responding to emergencies immediately and acting as an emergency manager until relieved by the ADOC, DOC, or Executive Director.
- Collaborating with the interprofessional team to provide effective clinical care for all residents.
- Participating in in-services and education of nursing team members and other departments as required.
- Acting as a role model for nursing team members, performing within professional guidelines of College of Nurses and relevant provincial legislation requirements.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Nursing (BN), or equivalent degree.
- Current registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- A minimum of two years related clinical experience, preferably in rehabilitation or long-term care nursing.
- Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing, including activation, activity programs, nursing, and personnel administration.
Bonus points will be awarded for having:
- Minimum of two years related clinical experience, preferably in rehabilitation or long-term care nursing.
- Certificate in gerontological nursing (preferred).
