Education and Student Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Education and Student Support Specialist to join our team at Headway School Society of Alberta. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic success and well-being of our students.
About the RoleThis is a permanent position with a salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. The successful candidate will work 30-40 hours per week, providing education and student support services to students in grades K-12.
Duties and Responsibilities- Accompany students during school and extracurricular activities, providing individualized support and guidance as needed;
- Assist teachers in the classroom, helping students with assignments, reinforcing learning concepts, and supervising students during recess and lunch hour;
- Monitor and report student progress to teachers, providing valuable insights and recommendations for improvement;
- Supervise students during school and extracurricular activities, ensuring their safety and well-being;
- Assist students with special needs, using techniques such as sign language, braille, and remedial programs;
- Perform other duties assigned by the school principal, contributing to the overall success and growth of our students.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field;
- 1-2 years of experience working in education or a related field;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing situations and priorities;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through;
- Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
