Job Summary

The role of Specialist Network/Telecom is a highly technical position with in-depth subject matter expertise. The role is responsible for ensuring the overall availability, stability, performance, and integrity of CN's network and telecom infrastructure. The Operation Specialist will focus on system growth, capacity planning, and delivering automation functionalities to optimize support tasks.

Main Responsibilities

Operation Excellence

  1. Lead and execute installations/upgrades, configuration, and maintenance of the networking infrastructure.
  2. Review and approve change controls.
  3. Quality review of infrastructure changes and implementations.
  4. Lead 'Life cycle projects' initiatives (analyze, test, deploy).
  5. Monitor and maintain system availability and performance.
  6. Take ownership in defining key performance indicators (KPIs) related to:
    1. Capacity and performance
    2. Service / Network
  7. Create and maintain operational documentation.
  8. Advanced troubleshooting, vulnerability, and bug corrections with vendors.
  9. Provide 3rd Level support to pager roster (24/7) rotation basis.

Delivery

  1. Work with project team to deliver required infrastructure/solutions.
  2. Participate in the project transition and support strategies (T2C).
  3. Act as a Telecom lead on a set of assigned strategies and projects.
  4. Contribute to technical proposals, specifications, requirements, and design documents.

The Specialist Network & Telecom will play the role of a technical subject matter expert (SME) within the team and collaborate with various architecture, infrastructure, security, and application teams to provide guidance related to network & telecom technologies.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Telecommunications specialization preferred.
  2. 5+ years in IT with a minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated experience in providing hands-on technical expertise within large corporate environments.
  3. Knowledge of Cisco Wi-Fi networks, including Cisco Prime, WLCs, APs, ISE, and all related technologies.
  4. Experience and knowledge in operations and optimization of IP networks.
  5. Good understanding of communications media (fibre, copper, wireless) and structured cabling best practices.
Assets
  1. Scripting skills (network automation).
  2. Experience in building business cases and providing estimates.
