Senior Data Science Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Science Analyst to join our team at IFG International Financial Group Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta. This is a 12-month contract opportunity with the possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts to streamline reporting processes, developing and maintaining reporting logic using Databricks, and automating standard reporting deliverables. Additionally, they will visualize datasets using PowerBI or Spotfire, create standardized and ad-hoc reports, and ensure compliance with reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to streamline reporting processes
  • Develop and maintain reporting logic using Databricks
  • Automate standard reporting deliverables and explore self-serve options
  • Visualize datasets using PowerBI or Spotfire
  • Create standardized and ad-hoc reports to meet diverse needs
  • Ensure compliance with reporting standards
  • Train colleagues for independent reporting management
  • Continuously enhance financial and operational data analysis

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data science, analytics, with a focus on automation and tool development
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Databricks
  • Experience working with Git and related tools (Gitlab, Github)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in SQL and either R or Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Spotfire
  • Familiarity with Git and cloud data platforms like Databricks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Experience working with financial or operational data in the energy industry
  • Certification in relevant programming languages or data analytics tools
