About the Role

The District School Board of Niagara is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Library Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our library team, you will provide exceptional support to students and staff in our secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide library services to students and staff, including cataloging, shelving, and circulation.
  • Operate the Follett Automation System, library security system, and Media Net.
  • Deliver library services, including searching and locating information, maintaining inventory, and ordering materials.
  • Maintain library computer facilities, including the internet and Follett systems.
  • Demonstrate proper use of resources and support an appropriate learning environment in the library.
  • Participate in professional development and liaise with the ICT Department.
  • Perform other library-related duties as assigned by the Administrator of Information Communications Technologies and/or the school principal.
Requirements
  • Hold a Library designation from a recognized Community College (CAAT) or demonstrate experiential equivalence.
  • Have the ability to work under minimal supervision, organize time efficiently, and work well with a variety of people.
  • Familiarity with library processes and the secondary school environment is essential.
  • Have good word-processing skills and previous experience in providing library services.
  • Provide a satisfactory Police Clearance including a Vulnerable Sector Police Check from the last 6 months (or ability to obtain one).
