Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Control Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining organization of materials layouts, updating and maintaining the Plastcoat PFEP/Part Database, and participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives to lower inventory levels and increase inventory turns.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain organization of materials layouts on the floor, in racks, outside, and at the warehouse
• Update and maintain the Plastcoat PFEP/Part Database for all active part numbers
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to lower inventory levels and increase inventory turns
• Oversee and coordinate the creation of WIP, FG, and Expendable containers for new programs
• Attend all CFT meetings for potential changes to packaging
• Help in the development of returnable packaging for customers, utilizing customer guidelines
• Create Schedule 4's and work with Purchasing for vendor selection
• Prepare and complete all Packaging Instructions
• Maintain Packaging Instruction Database in CAQ
• Maintain customer packaging websites such as GPP, DDL, CDR, etc.
• Issue cost forms of new/revised packaging requirements to Sales Dept.
• Provide ergonomic testing on new/revised packaging
• Coordinate the shipment, receipt, and tracking of returnable packaging for repairs
• Create ECN's for new packaging introduced into Plastcoat
• Work with Materials Manager on all Fleet Calculators before placing orders
• Provide Fleet calculations and associated costs for New Program Quotes and OEM Capacity Studies
• Participate in CI cost savings on current and future packaging
• Create and maintain supplier packaging with proper fleet sizes to ensure compliance to Plastcoat standards
• Work closely with shipping department to supply required shipping forms, delivery schedules, and coordination of shipping activities in regards to packaging
• Submit all Plastcoat-owned returnable packaging for complete shaker test analysis
• Ensure packaging is designed to be manufactured in accordance with Federal and Provincial Laws and that they adhere to Customer (OEM) Environmental Safety Standards
• Travel to and from packaging trials, warehouse, etc.
• Spend time on the shop floor reviewing trials, potential packaging issues, ideas for savings/5S
Requirements
• Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes involved in the automotive industry
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate in word and spreadsheet programs
• Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum completion of college diploma and/or manufacturing experience or equivalent
• Customer quoting procedures, injection molding understanding, and knowledge of packaging ergonomics
• Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing facility, automotive would be an asset
