Job Summary:

As an Employment Counsellor at the Sault Community Career Centre, you will play a vital role in guiding clients towards their employment goals. Your expertise will help clients navigate the job market, develop job search strategies, and access community resources. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide tailored assistance to job seekers, employers, and newcomers to our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' skills, interests, and motivation levels.
  • Guide clients in setting short-term and long-term goals based on their strengths, barriers, and interests.
  • Provide employment preparation support, including job search strategies, resume development, and interview preparation.
  • Connect clients with community services, educational opportunities, and training programs.
  • Offer continuous support and guidance to clients, helping them navigate personal and professional challenges.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.
  • Effective communication skills, with an emphasis on reflective listening and responses.
  • In-depth understanding of job search practices, tools, and trends.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Awareness of and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to persons with disabilities and mental health disorders.
