Sports Team Lead

At Sport Chek, we're on the hunt for an exceptional leader to join our team as a Sports Team Lead - Footwear Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take charge of our footwear department and drive sales while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
About the RoleWe're looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for sports and live an active lifestyle. As a Department Sales Manager of Footwear, you'll have a proven track record of business growth and exceptional customer service skills. If you're a retail manager with a knack for coaching, developing, and inspiring your team, then this is the perfect fit for you.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing a daily game and sales plan for the department, creating development plans for full-time staff, and communicating effectively through regular huddles and meetings. You'll also be expected to develop and maintain a positive work environment for staff, focusing on employee engagement and retention.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth in the footwear department
- Build and manage a high-performing team by providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback
- Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and preferences, ensuring exceptional customer service at all times
- Stay up-to-date on product knowledge, including new arrivals and promotions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business results and achieve company goals
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail environment, preferably at a supervisory level
- A proven track record of business growth and exceptional customer service skills
- Demonstrated interest in or involvement in sports or the sporting goods industry (an asset)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
