Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Engineer to join our team at Kiewit Nuclear Canada. As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in the success of our nuclear safety culture and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of reporting and workmanship on our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents and field personnel
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain good client relations
  • Initiate and attend meetings with clients to resolve problems and plan projects
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover
  • Maintain daily diaries for record-keeping purposes
  • Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to general foreman
Requirements
  • 3+ years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a field engineer capacity (preferably on DOE projects)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
Working Conditions

Regular, reliable attendance is required. Work productively and meet deadlines timely. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
