Nurse Care Specialist

Apotex 7 has an opportunity for a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Cognitive Support Unit team.
This role is a temporary part-time position with a contract of approximately 6 months.
The successful candidate will work evening shifts, alternating weekends, and be required to work a maximum of 15 bi-weekly hours.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing sound clinical knowledge and skills in collaboration with RNs to deliver comprehensive, quality client/family-centred health care services.
- Planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing interventions, including medications and treatments within the RPN's scope of practice.
- Performing client assessments and providing client-centred care within an interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation, and spiritual needs of clients.
Qualifications include:
- Current registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate, Level C - Automated External Device.
- Experience in Long-Term Care, clients in day programs, or residents in a Long-Term Care and Community Setting is preferred.
- Certificate in Dementia Care is preferred.
- Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First is preferred.
- Psychogeriatric experience, including mental health assessment and intervention, and working with responsive behaviours, including various types of dementia, delirium, mental health issues is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including MDS/RAI, Point Click Care, Microsoft Word, and Excel are preferred.
