Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our interdisciplinary team. As an LPN, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive assessments, treatment management, and guidance to clients with mental health and addiction-related issues.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver client care according to the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Formulate and implement client care plans.
- Safely implement physician's orders.
- Administer medications to clients.
- Maintain current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards.
- Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client's involvement in addiction treatment.
- Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies.
- Provide supportive counselling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living.
- Provide ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
- Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the client and his care.
- Assist the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training.
- Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Alberta.
- Current basic CPR.
- Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Leadership/Charge experience preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Knowledge of/experience with a team-based person-centered care approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
