Primary Care Physician Opportunity at CFB Gander

Calian Group Ltd. is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will have the opportunity to practice comprehensive and collaborative primary health care within a multidisciplinary setting, directly supporting the brave men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces.

This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to work with a highly motivated patient base, building meaningful connections while ensuring their health and operational readiness. As a primary care physician, you will provide a range of services that include primary care, occupational health, minor trauma management, disease prevention, health promotion, rehabilitation, and ongoing support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive primary medical care to patients with acute and chronic health conditions including referral to other health care providers when warranted.
  • Deliver occupational health services such as, but not limited to:
  • Referral of patients for participation in programs for the use of indicated personal protective devices – hearing conservation, respiratory protection program.
  • Communicate with Senior Medical Authority on relevant clinical matters such as CF Spectrum of Care, complex patients requiring multi-disciplinary intervention, individual operational readiness.
  • Maintain patient medical information in Electronic Health Record and patient health records.
Requirements
  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland
  • Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C

You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
