We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at William Osler Health System. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to patients in the PACU, working collaboratively with the inter-professional healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Safe Nursing Practice: Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients in the PACU, adhering to the nursing practice expectations set by Osler and regulatory practice standards.
- Compliance with Policies and Procedures: Ensure compliance with policies and procedures associated with observations, infection control, and prevention measures.
- Professional Patient-Centred Care: Provide patient-centred care to ensure patient safety and physiological and psychological well-being, creating a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Cultural Competence: Provide care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment.
- Emergency Situations: Respond to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient's health status and consulting appropriately when necessary using transfer of accountability principles.
- Health Teaching: Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care in the community.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a PACU, emergency, or critical care unit, with experience with patients requiring ventilator support and hemodynamic monitoring (arterial lines, CVP) required.
- Certifications: Coronary Care I and Coronary Care II or critical care certificate required, with a post-anesthetic care nursing course preferred.
- Registration: Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
- Leadership and Facilitation: Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills, with the ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions.
- Customer Service: Demonstrated excellent customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Continuous Learning: Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development as it applies to the profession and related field.
