Job Description

The Payroll & Programs Administrator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll and programs departments. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll.
- Conduct regular audits and import timesheet information from various locations.
- Verify and balance hours, and ensure proper approvals and controls are followed.
- Collaborate with the HR team on the administration of new hires and terminations.
- Maintain the integrity and operations of the payroll system.
- Identify and resolve payroll issues to meet critical deadlines.
- Prepare monthly and annual reporting, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Prepare tax form documents and government remittances in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Manage employee benefits and administer the Employee Group Benefit program.
- Administer the Pension Plan as required.
- Prepare and distribute communications to employees.
- Other duties as required.

Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Payroll or related experience required.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Human Resources considered an asset.
- Canadian Payroll Association Certification or working towards certification considered an asset.
- Strong organization and time management skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office applications, including a high level of experience in Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of employee benefit programs.
- Strong attention to detail and passion for accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian Payroll regulations.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with using computerized payroll systems (i.e., Ceridian Dayforce, ADP).
- Previous experience with both union and non-union payroll considered an asset.
- Must be a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet critical and time-sensitive deadlines.
