About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide direct care to patients in our Maximum and Multi-Level Security Units. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and providing education and support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients in accordance with their care plans, including administering medication, performing protocols and interventions, and implementing behavior management strategies.
  • Assess patient needs and develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and well-being.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • One (1) year of recent experience working in a forensic or acute psychiatric hospital setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current and updated knowledge of changes and developments in the practice of psychiatric nursing and of applicable Federal and Provincial legislation.
  • Broad knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral, social emotional and mental health/psychiatric issues in adults.
  • Demonstrated organizational, facilitation, decision making and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of multidisciplinary care team, work independently, and function as a nursing resource.
