Senior Director of Care Opportunity

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Senior Director of Care. This temporary position will require the successful candidate to provide support and expertise to our portfolio of Long-Term Care and Retirement homes across Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement nursing department initiatives and functions, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the coordination and implementation of risk management initiatives related to resident care, focusing on prevention and mitigation strategies.
  • Effectively manage nursing supplies, ensuring optimal utilization and minimizing waste.
  • Maintain a comprehensive system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit program level.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to staff, promoting quality resident care and a culture of excellence.
  • Investigate and address occupational health and safety concerns, working closely with WSIB claims and return-to-work plans.
  • Support special projects, reviews, and initiatives, contributing to the overall success of the nursing department.
  • Assume responsibility for the nursing department, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality care.
Requirements:
  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ability to travel extensively, with overnight accommodations required.
  • Passion for caring for seniors and a commitment to delivering exceptional care.
  • Extensive familiarity with the FLTCA 2021 and relevant regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with WSIB management and occupational health and safety.
  • Experience with falls and harm reduction strategies an asset.
  • Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties.
  • Excellent communication and comprehension skills, with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Developed creative problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
