About the Role

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housing Projects Planner II to join our team in the Housing Policy and Regulation Division. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advancing the delivery of affordable and social housing projects through the City's planning and development approvals processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advancing Affordable Housing Projects: Secure affordable and social housing through major planning projects and development applications throughout the city.
  • Implementing Housing Policies: Review and implement housing policies and strategies aimed at expanding the affordable and social housing stock in Vancouver.
  • Coordinating with Stakeholders: Establish collaborative working relationships with internal departments, external stakeholders, and community organizations to facilitate the delivery of affordable housing.
  • Providing Technical Analysis: Perform planning research and assess option feasibility through financial and social policy analysis.
  • Supervising Staff: Supervise junior staff and support the overall work of the team.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A post-secondary degree in Planning recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners or related studies combined with considerable experience in and commitment to developing affordable housing.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of social and affordable housing legislative and policy context, tenant protection policies, development approvals processes, and land use planning.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex planning information to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
