Patient Service Representative

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Agent to join our team at Brightshores. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service, registering patients, booking appointments, and confirming patient visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients and update their records in a timely and accurate manner
- Book appointments and schedule patient visits
- Confirm patient visits and provide excellent customer service
- Support other business office functions, including general office administration, payroll, accounts receivable, and bank deposits
- Utilize Cerner Patient Information System to perform Admission, Discharge, and Transfer procedures, Electronic Scheduling Module, FirstNet, statistical verification, census reporting, and doctor order entry
Requirements
- High school diploma and/or post-secondary medical secretarial education or equivalent
- Successful completion of PM Access (testing and training is available through Organizational Development and Learning)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Patient-service focused
- Ability to multi-task
- Experience working on a switchboard
- Experience with accounts receivable functions of patient billing, preferred accommodation, incidental fees, insurance company charges, and ALC
- Capable of filing and chart assembly, reading and entering doctor's orders, patient dietary orders, assisting with patient flow in the ER, and assisting with transporting specimens to the Lab (if applicable)
- Microsoft Office experience in Word (to be tested)
- Typing – 30 WPM (to be tested)
- Medical terminology (to be tested)
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Capable of filing
- Ability to work all shifts
- Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
- Knowledge of and adherence to Brightshores 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills, and attitudes
