Salary Range

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000 and $81,000 per year.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Payroll Expert to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario. As a key member of our payroll department, you will be responsible for efficiently processing weekly payrolls in SAP HCM and Sage Timberline, meeting all deadlines, and ensuring compliance with Union Contracts and SOX audit requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform time balancing and upload tasks
  • Ensure compliance with Union Contracts, including payments, fringes, and final payments
  • Adhere to strict compliance with SOX audit requirements
  • Prepare payroll journal entries for upload to SAP GEP and other journal entries as needed
  • Process payments for CRA remittance, EHT, Savings Plans, and some Union payments as required
  • Distribute regular weekly/monthly reports and ad-hoc reports
  • Prepare ROE using ROE on the Web
  • Resolve pay-related issues
  • Administer garnishments, including setup, monitoring, and remittance
  • Monitor and reconcile relevant payroll accounts in the general ledger
  • Balancing, preparation, and filing of T4 and T4A's
  • Perform GL account reconciliations
  • Interact with internal personnel, including Supervisors, Managers, site/field personnel, employees, and Human Resources, as well as external bodies, including HRSDC, Union Local, Credit Union, and FRO

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of payroll processes and procedures acquired through a minimum of one year hands-on experience
  • Completion of CPA's PCP designation
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll software, SAP HCM, and preferably Sage 300 Construction Payroll
  • Experience with hourly payroll
  • Experience processing payroll for a unionized workplace
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong knowledge of related provincial and federal government legislation
  • Sound knowledge of taxation issues related to payroll
  • Accounting experience is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet ongoing deadlines
