Millwright Maintenance Technician

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Millwright Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our hospitals and research facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair mechanical equipment, including fans, pumps, air compressors, and hospital equipment.
- Operate hand and power tools to fabricate parts required during maintenance and repair.
- Install mechanical items, such as pipes, valves, and fittings.
- Communicate with clients regarding required downtime and planned maintenance activities.
- Set up and maintain machine tools and the machine shop.
- Contribute to the maintenance of inventory levels and ensure that all necessary materials and supplies are readily available.
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies, and contraventions in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of high school plus Millwright Apprenticeship Program or recognized equivalent.
- 7,040 hours on-the-job training and 8 weeks (240 hours) of technical training in class each year for four years.
- Possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications.
- Ability to read and understand short notes, forms, instructions, memos, and letters.
- Ability to read and understand detailed operating procedure manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and other technical documentation.
- Good eye-hand coordination and ability to estimate and measure sizes and distances accurately.
- Ability to work independently at tasks that require concentration and multi-tasking.
- Exercise initiative and good judgment in performing duties and meeting deadlines.
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Client service-oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate different opinions, backgrounds, and characteristics.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting 11 kg to 20 kg, pushing or pulling heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces.
