At the University of Alberta, we are seeking an experienced Enterprise IT Solutions Architect to join our team in the Department of Information Services & Technology (IST). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our institution through the design, development, and implementation of innovative IT solutions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in enterprise-level technologies, including Oracle PeopleSoft and Oracle Cloud Services. You will be responsible for technical analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of our Enterprise Applications solutions, tools, and technology.

As an Enterprise IT Solutions Architect, you will work closely with our Manager of Core Technology Services to enhance, implement, and support our Oracle Cloud Services (Planning & Budgeting, Recruiting), PeopleSoft 9.2, and other enterprise-level applications.

You will participate in solution design and programming tasks, collaborate with business services staff, Enterprise Applications staff, and other stakeholders to drive institutional excellence through innovative IT solutions.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who can bring their expertise in analytical thinking, design thinking, systems thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and foundational technical expertise to our team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating and participating in the assessment and evaluation of business processes and requirements into technical design and solutions.
  • Performing technical changes from project, enhancement, and operational requests through the development lifecycle.
  • Configuring, developing, and modifying applications, components, integrations, reports, and bolt-on solutions using a variety of programming languages.
  • Adhering to application, data, and integration development methodologies and standards.
  • Supporting production transition and post-implementation follow-up to ensure new or modified system changes perform according to solution design specifications.
  • Providing product, technology, and technical expertise in the delivery of maintenance, upgrades, and new development projects.
  • Providing technical support to functional staff, external resources, business areas, and university departments.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Three or more years of demonstrated technical experience in configuring, developing, integrating, implementing, and supporting large-scale and complex enterprise-level technologies.
  • Technical experience with multiple programming languages and concepts.
  • Strong technical qualifications in implementing and/or supporting enterprise resource planning systems and/or student information systems.
  • Enterprise-level Business Applications in Oracle PeopleSoft Applications Release 9.2 and Oracle Cloud Services is an asset.
  • Oracle PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.58 (or higher) and associated developer tools and technology including PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, Messaging, Integration Broker, Web Services, and Security Administration is an asset.
  • Structured Query Language (SQL) syntax for relational database management.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages such as C# and PHP is an asset.
  • Experienced as a project team member and in the use of project & process management methodologies in enhancing and implementing enterprise solutions.
