Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Accountant to support the financial operations of our company at our head office. This role will work closely with the Controller, assisting with financial reporting, providing detailed analyses to support management decisions, and collaborating with other members of the finance team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate financial reports, performing account reconciliations, and maintaining compliance with audit and tax requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive support to the Controller, assisting with financial reporting and preparing detailed financial analyses to aid strategic decision-making.
- Manage quarry accounts receivable (AR), cash receipts, and AR customer management, including revenue tracking and reporting specific to quarry operations.
- Assist with all intercompany financials, including bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, depreciation, quarterly HST, and rental revenue.
- Analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and manage depreciation schedules and related reporting.
- Assist with overseeing and reconciling prepaid expenses, inventory, balance sheet accounts, and bank reconciliations. Provide guidance to other finance team members on accounts receivable, inventory tracking, and other finance-related tasks.
- Prepare monthly HST filings, RRSP/DPSP remittances, and WSIB filings.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial and non-financial reports.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and create reports to support management decision-making.
- Perform overhead cost analysis by reviewing monthly expenses.
- Manage general ledger and subledger mapping to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Work towards becoming the Vista ERP super user, with the potential to provide training across all modules and departments, and manage Vista/HFF, and licensing with experience.
- Prepare supporting documentation for the annual audit
- Perform ERP system data extraction, reporting, configuration changes, and enhancements, including creating new phase codes and modifying budgets as required, while providing technical support to ERP users.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting systems, processes, and procedures.
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong technical fundamental accounting skills, including a solid understanding of GAAP, financial analysis, and general ledger functions.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Suite skills (Excel, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, Power Query) is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and present information clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista ERP and Crystal Reports is an asset.
- Experience in the construction industry or similar sectors with a strong understanding of job cost accounting is strongly preferred.
