About the Role:

CN is seeking a highly skilled Network Performance Specialist to join our Information & Technology (I&T) team. As a critical component of our railroad's engine, our teams use agile methodology to automate and digitize our operations, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the overall availability, stability, performance, and integrity of CN's network and telecom infrastructure.
  • Work towards improving monitoring, security, and performance of the environment.
  • Focus on system growth, capacity planning, and deliver automation functionalities to optimize support tasks.
  • Lead and execute installations/upgrades, configuration, and maintenance of the networking infrastructure.
  • Review and approve change controls.
  • Quality review of infrastructure changes and implementations.
  • Lead 'Life cycle projects' initiatives (analyze, test, deploy).
  • Monitor and maintain system availability and performance.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) related to capacity and performance, and service/network.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, vulnerability, and bug corrections with vendors.
  • Work with project teams to deliver required infrastructure/solutions.
  • Participate in project transition and support strategies (T2C).
  • Act as a Telecom lead on a set of assigned strategies and projects.
  • Contribute to technical proposals, specifications, requirements, and design documents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Telecommunications specialization preferred.
  • 5+ years in IT with a minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated experience in providing hands-on technical expertise within large corporate environments.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Wi-Fi networks, including Cisco Prime, WLCs, APs, ISE, and all related technologies.
  • Experience and knowledge in operations and optimization of IP networks.
  • Good understanding of communications media (fibre, copper, wireless) and structured cabling best practices.
  • Scripting skills (network automation).
  • Experience in building business cases and providing estimates.
