Job Title: Medical Support Services Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Services Assistant to join our team at ProctoCan. As a Medical Support Services Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support services in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, and setting up medical equipment
  • Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
  • Take patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients as needed
  • Deliver messages, reports, and specimens between departments
  • Make beds and maintain patients' rooms
  • Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations, and enemas as required
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Transport patients between care facilities and provide wheelchair or stretcher assistance as needed
  • Answer call signals to determine patients' needs and provide assistance
  • Collect specimens and prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing operative areas
  • Schedule and confirm appointments and perform administrative tasks
  • Ensure infection control and administer medications as prescribed
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care to patients
  • Monitor patients and advise physicians of any changes in patients' condition
  • Provide technical assistance to surgeons and provide patient and family education
  • Interview patients and ensure that quality nursing care is provided
  • Assist with record management and maintain accurate and up-to-date records

Requirements:

  • Continuing Care Assistant Certification
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Valid driver's license and own transportation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs) and stand for extended periods
