Job Summary

The Safety Promotion & Prevention Specialist is a key role within Michael Garron Hospital, responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations and legislation. This position will serve as a liaison with the Ministry of Labour and participate on various committees, including the Joint Health & Safety Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate health and safety programs to reduce workplace illness and injury
  • Perform job demands analysis, ergonomic risk assessments, hazard/risk assessments, and safety inspections
  • Investigate incidents and provide support for MSD prevention
  • Design and deliver training programs on health and safety topics
  • Review and revise occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Health Science related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of recent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in health and safety program development and implementation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
